Purple day is a global event meant to bring awareness and destigmatize common myths and fears that surround epilepsy. The first Purple Day was on March 26, 2008 and was thought of by a nine-year-old named Cassidy Megan, who herself has epilepsy. The official color of epilepsy awareness is purple, and supporters of the disorder are encouraged to wear the color every year on March 26th. Epilepsy is a neurological disordered characterized by recurring seizures.
